Four men have died in twin light aircraft crashes in NSW, including two killed when their gyrocopter slammed into a paddock.
The other two died instantly just hours later when their aircraft came to grief soon after take-off near Wentworth, in the state's far southwest, on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said on Wednesday evening the rotorcraft had come down shortly after midday in a paddock on Forest Road at central western Spring Hill, about one kilometre from Orange Regional Airport.
"We received a call that there'd been a ... crash off the end of the runway," Superintendent Chris Taylor told reporters on the scene.
"Some of the witnesses did see the plane crash."
Fire crews put out a small blaze at the scene.
A crime scene was established as authorities began investigating the cause.
The victims of the Wentworth crash were recovered on a rural property on the Silver City Highway, about 50km north of the remote border town, and were yet to be formally identified.
Police have been in contact with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in relation to both incidents.
