Four men die in regional Vic road crashes

Four men are dead and another man is in a critical condition after three separate road crashes on regional Victorian roads, which has left others injured.

Four men are dead, one is fighting for his life and two other people have been injured after a spate of crashes on regional Victorian roads in less than 24 hours.

A male car driver, aged in his 60s, is dead after a collision with a truck on the Midland Highway in Meredith about 1.20pm on Sunday.

His female passenger, also aged in her 60s, suffered pelvic injuries and has been airlifted to a Melbourne hospital in a serious condition.

The crash was less than three hours after a man, aged in his 70s, died when his Holden sedan veered onto the wrong side of the road colliding with a Ford wagon at Daisy Hill about 10.45am.

An elderly pair inside the Ford were taken to hospital with the man suffering chest injuries, while the woman is in a stable condition, Ambulance Victoria told AAP.

Another two men, aged 36 and 31, died and a male driver is fighting for his life after their ute rolled and crashed into a tree in Lancefield about 7pm on Saturday.

The 43-year-old driver was flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
