Four rescued from sinking boat off Tassie

Four people have been rescued from a sinking boat off Tasmania's northwest coast.

Four men have been rescued from a sinking boat off the Tasmanian coast.

Police and Surf Life Saving crews were called to waters off Burnie about 1pm on Sunday.

Emergency crews were alerted to the incident by a call from the skipper who said his fibreglass runabout boat had capsized and four people were clinging to the upturned vessel in the water.

It is believed only three the four people on the boat had life jackets.

Four men were transported to Burnie where they were treated for hypothermia at the boat ramp and one man was taken to the West Regional Hospital for further treatment.
