Nine-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater has won his fourth Rip Curl Pro title.
Slater beat Australia's reigning world champion Mick Fanning 17.03 points to 12 in the final at Johanna Beach.
Slater injured his foot on Thursday, but he showed no sign of discomfort as he surfed brilliantly in four heats on Friday.
The American took the lead in the final with a big aerial manoeuvre that gave him a wave score of 8.93 out of 10 and Fanning was unable to bridge the gap.
West Australian Taj Burrow, the winner in the season-opener on the Gold Coast, retained the World Championship Tour lead having made the semi-finals where he was beaten by Fanning.

The event was moved on Friday from Bells Beach to Johanna, about two hours drive down the Great Ocean Road.
It was the fourth different location during the event.
