Franklin's fearsome quarter over Essendon

QTR TIME: The Swans' medical staff brought an exercise bike out to the team huddle for Franklin. He had one kick in the first term and looked to be badly struggling with a corked thigh.

1ST MIN OF 2ND QTR: The Swans win the opening clearance and rush the ball forward to Franklin, who marks on the lead. He steers it through the middle from beyond the 50m arc.

3RD MIN OF 2ND QTR: Conor McKenna fumbles in a dangerous position. Dan Hannebery handballs to Tom Papley, who dishes the ball to Franklin. Buddy dances around Mark Baguley with ease and snaps truly.

6TH MIN OF 2ND QTR: Franklin marks deep in the pocket and slots his third goal from an acute angle, pushing Sydney's lead out to 29 points.

24TH MIN OF 2ND QTR: Michael Hurley shanks his kick, putting the Sherrin out on the full. Sydney move the ball swiftly to Franklin, who marks on the lead and converts. Sydney lead by 56 points.
