Australia's Marcus Fraser is one shot off the lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland after carding a second score of 68.

Italy's Andrea Pavan shot a nine-under 63 at Kingsbarns on Friday to join Denmark's Lucas Bjerregaard at the top of the leaderboard at nine under.

Fraser, who shared the overnight lead with England's Matt Wallace, sits alongside Austrian Matthias Schwab and Ryder Cup star Tyrell Hatton - winner of this event for the past two years - in a tie for third.

The Pro-Am event is played at three courses over four days. Fraser hit 68 at St Andrews after shooting the same score at a gusty Carnoustie on Thursday.

He will play at Kingsbarns on Saturday.

Lucas Herbert is the next highest Australian at five off the pace. He plays his next round at Carnoustie.

Hatton carded a 66 at Carnoustie to stay in contention for a third successive title.

"It's been a good couple of days," said the Englishman, who helped Europe to Ryder Cup success last week in France.

"There's still two days to go but I'm looking forward to playing St Andrews tomorrow ... I'll hopefully have a good weekend."

Hatton said he had also spoken on the telephone to the female spectator who was hit on the head on Thursday by his wayward strike at the 15th hole at Kingsbarns.

"She's going to be in St Andrews tomorrow, so I'll see her," he said.

"Obviously the positives are that she's fine and she's able to enjoy the golf for the rest of the week."
