Fresh injury woes for GWS after AFL win

Greater Western Sydney's Stephen Coniglio, Aidan Corr and Sam Reid have all been injured in the AFL club's three-point win over Collingwood.

AFL premiership contenders Greater Western Sydney could be facing a full-blown injury crisis, with Stephen Coniglio, Aidan Corr and Sam Reid all hurt in Saturday's three-point win over Collingwood.

The Giants remain in the top four despite long-term setbacks for Ryan Griffen, Brett Deledio, Nick Haynes, Matt Buntine, Adam Kennedy, Jacob Hopper and Tendai Mzungu.

The expansion club's depth is likely to be tested even further when they host Richmond in round nine at Spotless Stadium.

Star midfielder Coniglio limped off late in the final term of Saturday's thriller, having injured the same ankle that forced him to miss the opening six rounds of the season.

"Whether it's the same injury or not, we'll probably wait and see on Monday," GWS coach Leon Cameron said.

"Fingers crossed, it's not as bad.

"He's our vice-captain for a reason. He trains hard, plays hard and puts his body on the line.

"It's disappointing because, no doubt, he gave us everything he had ... he'll be disappointed."

Corr and Reid were both knocked out in the opening half. Corr's opening-minute concussion looked particularly nasty.

"Hopefully, the guys that suffered the concussion can go through the right protocols over the next three or four days, and who knows where that leads to?" Cameron said.

"But we'll send out 22 fit men ready to go for next week's game against the Tigers."

Corr lay motionless for more than a minute after his head hit the turf at an awful angle.

The 22-year-old had gone back with the flight of the ball to take a courageous mark and was accidentally tripped by teammate Phil Davis.

Corr eventually stood up, was helped off the ground by two trainers and immediately headed for the rooms.

Reid was accidentally floored early in the second term when he attempted to tackle Collingwood midfielder Levi Greenwood, who was sprinting into the forward line with the ball.

Reid trotted off groggily and failed his concussion test.
