Friends pay tribute to dead Qld woman

Friends of a woman stabbed to death in Cairns have taken to social media to remember her, as her partner remains in hospital with life-threatening stab wounds.

Friends of a woman found dead following a domestic incident in Cairns have taken to social media to express their condolences, as police investigations continue.

Crystal Ratcliffe, 38, was found stabbed to death at the home she shared with her de facto husband Ricky Cowan, 48, in the suburb of Woree, just before 3pm on Thursday.

He had also suffered serious stab wounds and was revived by paramedics before being taken to Cairns Hospital, where he remains with life-threatening injuries.

The Cairns Post reports the couple's two children arrived home from school to find the area taped off and police combing the scene.

"The two people that know what happened inside that residence, at this stage, unfortunately one is tragically deceased and the other one is suffering critical injuries," Detective Acting Superintendent Geoff Marsh told the newspaper.

"At this stage of the investigation there are no further suspects."

Police said they were waiting for Mr Cowan to recover so they could speak to him.

Friends of Ms Ratcliffe have posted messages of love and remembrance on her Facebook page.

"My best childhood memories with you Crystal Ratcliffe u were funny loving and kind person so many laughs in the days," wrote Angie Rasmussen.

"Love u forever always in my heart. RIP beautiful. XO"

Gary Addo wrote: "When u wake up this morning and not quite feeling it just remember a beautiful soul and mother and friend won't have that opportunity like we do. It's still a massive shock but may u rest in peace."
