After helping St George Illawarra dismantle North Queensland in the NRL, NSW State of Origin discard Tyson Frizell will rejoin the Blues camp on Sunday ahead of this week's series-opener.
Two days after being released from the Blues' base in Coffs Harbour, Frizell posted an impressive outing for the Dragons in their 14-10 win over the Cowboys in Wollongong.
The 24-year-old was a handful on the Dragons' right edge, running for 98 metres and making 39 tackles.
He will now reunite with his Blues teammates when they arrive in Sydney on Sunday as final preparations begin for the crucial game one clash against Queensland in Homebush.
Frizell said his mind had instantly switched back to helping the Blues reclaim Origin glory.
"It's a short turnaround for myself but that's the way it goes. I'll just be preparing as well as I can, anything can happen. I'll be helping out the boys wherever I can," Frizell said.
"The boys have got one training session (on Sunday) and then captain's run.
"I'll just slot in there for captain's run in case something does happen. I've got to know my role in that team, which I've picked up in the first couple of days that I was in there."
The Dragons second-rower admitted he was disappointed at being left out of Daley's 17, but remained hopeful of making his Blues debut later on in the series.
"I was disappointed in a way but really grateful for the opportunity," he said.
"There's a lot of boys out there that would be dying to be in the position that I'm in. Hopefully my opportunity comes soon but if I don't, I'll just be doing everything I can down at the Dragons."
Frizell said he was happy with Daley's explanation and wished his Blues teammates well in game one.
"He just said he wanted to go with the players that he did. I was happy with his decision," he said.
"That's the way he thought was best for game one. In saying that, he said to keep going the way I am, and that an opportunity will come hopefully soon."
