A man accused of driving a car into a house packed with mourners in far north Queensland has faced court on 26 counts of attempted murder.
Garry Paul Hudson, 55, was charged with the offences plus one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle on Tuesday, after previously being charged with one count of murder over the incident in Cape York on Friday.
It's alleged Hudson drove a council-owned vehicle through the front of the Kowanyama house where a large crowd had gathered to view a body.
A 48-year-old woman died and 26 others were injured, 12 seriously, in the crash, which has devastated the tight-knit indigenous community.
Hudson appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody to reappear on November 7.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has promised residents will get all the support they need.
"The injuries suffered are not all physical," she told parliament on Tuesday.
"There has been a significant impact on the emotional wellbeing of local residents, so it will be essential for my government to continue to work with the community to ensure its residents are supported in the weeks and months ahead."
