Funeral for boy killed by 'drink driver'

A funeral has been held for Josiah Sisson, who died after he was hit by an allegedly drunk driver on Christmas night in Queensland.

The family and friends of Josiah Sisson, who died after he was hit by an allegedly drunk driver on Christmas night, have farewelled the nine-year-old.

Josiah's parents Karl and Bonny and his older brother Jordan joined about 300 mourners at the service at the Potter's House Christian Church at Strathpine, north of Brisbane, at 11am on Saturday.

The nine-year-old was laid to rest in a white coffin, with family friends called upon to share their stories of the young boy.

Josiah died in hospital on December 27 after being struck by the car while he was out looking at Christmas lights two nights earlier.

The driver of the vehicle, Adrian Murray, 24, will face court in February charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Mr Sisson, a pastor, astonished many last month when he met with the 24-year-old and forgave him for causing his son's death.
