Further $328m to counter domestic violence

The Morrison government has launched a new $328 million package of measures to address domestic violence in Australia.

MEASURES TO REDUCE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

* Total commonwealth funding of $328 million for the fourth action plan.

* $82 million for frontline services, including free training for health workers to identify and better support victims, and the development of national standards for sexual assault responses.

* $68 million for prevention strategies

* $35 million in support and prevention measures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including intensive family case management in remote areas and areas of high need so indigenous women and children can access services that work with the whole family to address the impacts of violence, and practical intervention programs working with young people and adults at risk of experiencing or using violence.

* $78 million to provide safe places for people impacted by domestic and family violence.

* $64 million to support the 1800RESPECT helpline service.

* $12 million in measures targeted to culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

* $3.8 million for critical support for victims of human trafficking and slavery.
