Fading swell and strong onshore winds have forced organisers to call a lay day on the tenth day of the World Surf League (WSL) men's event in Portugal.
Conditions are expected to improve towards the last two days of the event's waiting period.
"The swell dropped and the onshore's still howling. It's pretty much the worst of our waiting period so far so we definitely won't be having any surfing today," said WSL deputy commissioner Travis Logie.
"We'll check back tomorrow (Friday) - the next couple of days look a lot more promising."
Australian former world champion Joel Parkinson is waiting to meet Brazil's sixth-ranked Filipe Toledo in the quarter-finals.
The 34-year-old will is the last Australian left in the event, after compatriot Mick Fanning's shock elimination on Sunday.
