Fremantle's Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe will reportedly miss the rest of his AFL side's pre-season after rupturing a disc in his back during training.

Fyfe is set to spend two months recovering from the injury suffered just before Christmas, according to Seven News in Perth on Sunday.

It's understood scans showed the disc was bulging and pushing on his spinal cord, but he won't have surgery.

Fyfe struggled with a number of injuries during the end of last season, including playing with a broken leg during the Dockers' preliminary final loss to Hawthorn.
