Sport-hopping star Jessica Gallagher is gunning to become Australia's first athlete to medal at a summer and winter Paralympics at the Rio Games.
With Paralympic alpine skiing and athletics already under her belt, the versatile 30-year-old has given track cycling a go, and is already loving the switch.
A self confessed adrenaline junkie, Gallagher still gets to hit high speeds in her new vocation but concedes skiing is still scarier.
The Melbourne-based rider, who has a vision impairment, races on a tandem bicycle with pilot Maddie Janssen, which she says is a much more stable environment.
"It's relatively safe compared to a mountain where I'm skiing down 100km/h with a guide," she said.
"We're not connected. I'm trusting through those headsets that he's giving me the right information."
Gallagher won Australia's first female Paralympic winter medal on her 24th birthday, claiming bronze in the vision impaired slalom at Vancouver 2010.
She then switched to athletics, competing in the long jump and javelin at the London 2012 Games before swapping back to para-alpine skiing for Sochi 2014.
With long jump dropped from Rio's program, she's transitioned into track cycling and will kick off her campaign on day two in the 1km time trial.
The duo finished third in the Rio test event earlier this year but Gallagher says they've progressed significantly in the five months since and have high expectations.
The newest female tandem on the circuit won a world title earlier this year in the match sprints.
"So we know we've got the power. With me and my tandem pilot Maddie and the bike, that's 160kg we've got to push from zero to 60km/h as quickly as possible," she said.
"We certainly want to be on that podium and hopefully that top spot."
