Gastro outbreak hits 176 on cruise ship

An outbreak of norovirus has affected 176 people, mostly passengers, on board The Sun Princess cruise ship which is undergoing "deep cleansing" in Brisbane.

A gastro outbreak on The Sun Princess cruise ship has affected 176 people, Queensland Health says.

The 15-deck vessel, which also suffered a similar outbreak on its previous cruise, is undergoing a "deep cleansing" after docking in Brisbane on Thursday morning.

Queensland Health has been advised the norovirus illness has struck down 173 passengers and three crew during the voyage to New Zealand, with the number of cases having already having peaked.
