Geelong forward Daniel Menzel has signed a one-year contract extension after unsuccessfully seeking a new AFL home.
An unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, Menzel explored options but was unable to find a longer-term deal than what was offered by the Cats.
His shocking injury history, having undergone four knee reconstructions, is likely to have driven the apparent lack of interest from rival clubs.
The 26-year-old played 19 games in 2017, booting a career-high 40 goals.
He was dropped for Geelong's qualifying-final loss to Richmond, with coach Chris Scott later admitting his omission was a mistake.
