Surfers in landlocked Munich are trying their hand at the daring aquatic sport - in one of the German city's rivers, SBS's Manny Tsigas reports.

"It's very important for guys who love surfing because the sea is very far away," explains Ronaldo Friesen, who owns a surf shop.

Yoyo Terhorst, a fellow surfer, says the river allows enthusiasts to "ride the wave for ages and ages".

"It's still challenging because you can always learn new stuff and there are always guys coming up with new stuff," he adds.
