Former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has been appointed manager of Glasgow Rangers.
Gerrard signed a four-year contract to replace Graeme Murty, who was dismissed on Tuesday after losing 5-0 to bitter rivals Celtic last weekend.
"I am honoured to become the next manager of Rangers," Gerrard, who will officially take charge this (northern) summer, said on the club's website.
"I have enormous respect for this football club, and its history and tradition.
"I can't wait to start this new journey at Rangers as we look to build on the many successes that this club has achieved."

It's the first managerial job for the 37-year-old Anfield legend, who had been coaching Liverpool's youth team.
"From the very beginning, talks have been extremely positive and we believe that Steven is the right man to drive Rangers forward," club chairman Dave King said.
"He was extremely impressive throughout our negotiations and we are convinced that he has the necessary knowledge and temperament to lead the club to the success we all desire.
"This a special day for our club, our fans and for Steven."
Gerrard made 710 appearances for Liverpool from 1998-2015, scoring 186 goals and winning seven trophies including the Champions League in 2005.
He then spent 18 months with LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer before retiring in 2016.
Gerrard was also capped 114 times by England and captained the side at the World Cup in 2010 and 2014 and also Euro 2012.
Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership, 13 points behind Celtic, who clinched a seventh consecutive title with their win on Sunday.
Assistant coaches Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson will be in charge of the team for the last three matches of this season, Rangers said earlier this week.
