You like to have your say on politics to your family, your colleagues, your mates.

Now tell the nation.

Become a People's Pundit for SBS and have your say about the issues facing Australians as they head to the ballot box.

Politics can be a confusing business, even for the best of us. On paper, its practice looks pretty straightforward: it's decision-making, it's agenda setting, and it takes place in parliament.

But what exactly do our politicians stand for?

When it comes to the principles behind a policy, we're stuck with feel-good concepts and motherhood statements.

Who is against "better schools and hospitals", "a strong economy" "more jobs" and "a sustainable Australia"?

That's where you come in.

SBS News is looking for passionate, politically-engaged citizens to cut through the spin and get to the heart of an issue, and how it might affect you and your community.

The People's Pundit group is a chance for you, the viewer, to share your knowledge and insights with Australia on the policies and issues of Election 2013.

You might have a way with words, share your view via social media, be an expert on a subject, take a good picture, or be handy with a video camera. Either way, if you've got opinions that you'd like to share during the campaign – and you're not a member of a political party – then SBS would like to hear from you.

Tell us why and how you'd like to get involved by emailing us: sbsnews@sbs.com.au.

You can also help shape the conversation by tweeting using the hash tag #punditSBS.
