Opposition Leader Tony Abbott wants Julia Gillard to concentrate on governing the country amid heightened speculation that an election may be called later this week.
"I think she should get on with government," he told reporters in Queanbeyan on Tuesday.
"It is incumbent upon the government and the prime minister to do their job properly."

Mr Abbott accused Ms Gillard and her predecessor Kevin Rudd of "ineptitude after ineptitude".
The Liberal leader made the comments as he opened the campaign office of David Gazard, the party's candidate for the bellwether seat of Eden-Monaro.
The coalition could not win the election without winning Eden-Monaro, which for more than 30 years has been held by the government of the day, Mr Abbott said.
"If we see a change of member in Eden-Monaro, we will see a change of government in Canberra."
Mr Gazard said an important fight was ahead.
"We are going to take the fight up to Labor. We are going to fight for the services that people right across this seat deserve," he said.
