‘Get undressed and work’: Belarusians take on President’s advice

When President Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s commanded citizens to ‘get undressed and work until you sweat’, they wasted no time.

As the rouble continues to fall and unemployment rises in Belarus, President Lukashenka delivered a speech to his people.

“You know what to do, how to do it, and what goals to achieve,” he said at public gathering in June as quoted by RT.com.

“Life is simple: we should get undressed and work until you sweat”.

President Lukashenka may have intended to say “develop and work” as "undress" and "develop" are similar in Belarusian language.

Belarusians are having fun with the gaff, filling social media with pictures of themselves naked at work accompanied by the hashtag #раздеватьсяиработать (#getnakedandwork).
