The San Francisco Giants have advanced to the National League Division Series with a 3-0 victory over the New York Mets.

Madison Bumgarner delivered a shutout in the win-or-bust wild-card game at Citi Field, with Conor Gillaspie's three-run homer off Mets closer Jeurys Familia edging the visitors ahead in the ninth inning.

The Giants will face the Chicago Cubs in the best-of-five NLDS, beginning in Chicago on Friday (Saturday AEST).
