Greater Western Sydney's Toby Greene has escaped with a fine for the unusual incident that left Western Bulldogs star Luke Dahlhaus nursing a split lip.
Greene was reported for rough conduct during Friday night's win over the Bulldogs after he caught Dahlhaus in the face with his right boot in a marking contest.
However, the AFL's match review panel amended the charge to engaging in misconduct, which allowed them to slap Greene with a $2500 fine that will drop to $1500 with an early plea.
The controversial Giant had been facing the prospect of his third suspension for the season, but instead received his third fine.
