If the return of star forward Toby Greene isn't enough to inspire GWS against Richmond, Adam Kennedy's long-awaited comeback might just do the trick.

Kennedy will play his first AFL game since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in round seven last season when the Giants host the Tigers at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.

A foundation player at GWS, Kennedy is a beloved figure at the club who has continued to set a high standard during his 14-month rehabilitation.

"His four weeks that he's played (in the NEAFL), we think he's got better and better every week," Giants coach Leon Cameron said.

"His attitude has never been questioned, and his character and popularity around the footy club is first class.

"Everyone loves him because he applies himself to his rehab, his footy; everything he does, he does a hundred miles an hour and we feel he can add some great value to our team this week."

With Kennedy set to bolster the Giants' backline, Greene looms as an important addition to a forward line missing Jeremy Cameron (suspension) and Jonathon Patton (knee).

The talented Greene has been sorely missed since going down with a foot injury in round five.

"We know that with Toby, he'll give everything he's got," Cameron said.

"We've put a lot of work into him. You can never replace a pre-season and games missed so every week he plays, he'll get better and better.

"The way he's trained and his competitive aspect is the reason why we feel as though we can bring him straight back in to make some sort of impact."

Jacob Hopper is also back for the Giants while veteran Brett Deledio is set to return from a calf injury through the NEAFL.

The Tigers welcome back premiership duo Bachar Houli and Nick Vlastuin and forward Shai Bolton as they chase their first away win for the season.

Nathan Broad, Dan Butler and Jack Graham are out injured.
