GWS Giants already depleted midfield stocks have taken another hammering, with veteran Ryan Griffen and first-round AFL draft pick Will Setterfield ruled out for up to ten weeks with ankle injuries.

Three rounds into the competition and the premiership favourites have six midfielders unavailable, five through injury and Lachie Whitfield suspended until round eight.

There was some good news for the Giants on Monday, with co-captain and key defender Phil Davis expected to line up against Port Adelaide in Canberra on Saturday after being cleared of shoulder damage.
