Greater Western Sydney enjoyed a drought-busting AFL win in Adelaide, now they've been challenged to maintain the rage against lowly Gold Coast at home.
GWS snapped a four-match losing steak on Sunday, recording a 16-point victory over the Crows at Adelaide Oval.
It was the first time the Giants had defeated the Crows in Adelaide, while it came a week after some pundits declared the expansion club would miss the finals.
GWS, who started the year among the league's leading premiership favourites, sit 11th on the ladder.
It means there is still a lot of work to be done before September.
Giants midfielder Dylan Shiel warned his teammates their efforts in Adelaide would count for nothing if they couldn't get the job done against the Suns this weekend at Spotless Stadium.
"The biggest challenge for us this week is to be able to back up that intensity - to maintain that rage," Shiel told reporters.
"The proof will be in the pudding, we need to wait and see what happens.
"We won't be taking Gold Coast lightly; we're expecting a seriously contested brand of footy from them."
The Giants' pressure and slick ball movement, hallmarks of their run to the preliminary finals in 2016 and 2017, overwhelmed the Crows on Sunday.
Leon Cameron's side had produced patches of that form during their slump, but never sustained it for so long.
"It was clearly a special win and certainly we can take a little bit more from that win compared to others," Shiel said.
"We'd been challenged externally in the footy world and obviously (by) Leon.
"During a difficult month, we had some really difficult conversations that needed to be had.
"We're not going to define our season and expect people to do that after one really good match against the Crows, but it's certainly a turning point for us."
