Australian terror survivor Gill Hicks says she's overwhelmed by the response of authorities and ordinary people to the latest terror attack in London.
Ms Hicks, who was severely injured in the London bombings of 2005, has praised the efforts of police and paramedics who rushed to the scene, and also those people who witnessed the attack and went to help.
"The people that were immediately there on the scene," she told ABC radio on Thursday.
"Fellow human beings who rushed towards what was, for all intents and purposes, incredible danger to help other people."
Ms Hicks said her first thoughts after the attack were with the families of those killed after a suspected lone-wolf attacker mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before ramming his car into a fence around the Houses of Parliament and killing a police officer.
She also called for continued solidarity in the fight against terrorism.
"The great tool of terrorism is fear," she said.
"We cannot look at a divided approach. We have to come together because that's our strength, that's our power."
South Australian Education Minister Susan Close was also in London and was walking to Westminster for a meeting when she heard three shots.
Ms Close said the emergency services were extremely well prepared.
"They just swung incredibly smoothly into action and took control," she said.
"It's apparent it's been extremely well managed from this end."
