Prime Minister Julia Gillard has thrown down the gauntlet to her opposite number Tony Abbott, saying she will attend an event in Brisbane on Wednesday night to debate him on the economy.
It is not yet clear if he will attend.
She says if he doesn't go she will take part in a town hall forum in the same city anyway.

Ms Gillard and Mr Abbott have been debating whether they will have more election debates for some days, disagreeing over the subject matter, format and timing.
