Ms Gillard, also the Workplace Relations Minister, has spent much of the week on the road talking up the system which came into effect on January 1.

"We know that it was workers in occupations like cleaning who had pay and conditions ripped off them under Work Choices," Ms Gillard said, standing alongside a group of women who work as cleaners.

"Now, every working person, including these cleaners has a safety net at work they can rely on, a safety net that can never be taken away."
