Gillard 'to receive honorary professorship'

Former prime minister Julia Gillard is set to receive an honorary professorship by the University of Adelaide after the election, the ABC reports.

This would be the first publicly declared role for Ms Gillard since Kevin Rudd replaced her as leader of the Labor Party in June.

Ms Gillard's role is set to include giving speeches and making other appearances at the university, the ABC reports.

It's believed the university will formally announce the appointment after the election.

Neither the university nor Ms Gillard's spokesman have confirmed it.
