The topics of human rights, climate change and economic ties will be on the cards when Prime Minister Julia Gillard meets Chinese president Hu Jintao, before flying to London for the royal wedding.
In a press conference before her meeting with Hu, Gillard reiterated her stance on Australia's proposed carbon tax, saying it was the best way to tackle climate change.
She also said she will raise the issue of human rights with the Chinese president in their upcoming meeting.
Gillard will wrap up her week-long tour of North Asia and two days of talks in Beijing with political and business leaders.
She met with Premier Wen Jiabao for talks that canvassed the same topics she wishes to raise with President Hu.
Ms Gillard toured Beijing's Forbidden City before meeting Hu in the afternoon.
The prime minister will then attend "A Night at the Opera", a concert featuring Opera Australia and Peking Opera stars.
That will be her final official engagement of the trip that began a week ago in Japan and also took the prime minister to South Korea.
She will soon leave China to attend the royal wedding.
Gillard said her focus in China has been on strengthening economic ties.
