Girl, 5, bitten by tiger snake in Tasmania

A five-year-old girl is being airlifted to hospital after being bitten by what is believed to be a tiger snake in Tasmania's northeast.

A five-year-old girl has been bitten by a snake in Tasmania's northeast.

The girl was bitten by what is believed to be a tiger snake at a property in Pioneer on Wednesday and is being flown by the police rescue helicopter to Launceston General Hospital.

The girl is in a stable condition, police say.
