A 12-year-old girl has been charged following a house fire on NSW's Central Coast.

Firefighters were called to the Central Coast Highway at Erina at about 1am on Saturday to find the house well alight.

They extinguished the blaze but the house was extensively damaged.

Police later arrested two 12-year-old girls and charged one with damaging property by fire.

The girl, who police say lived in the house, was refused bail to appear at Childrens Court on Saturday.

The other girl was released without charge.
