A young girl is dead and another is fighting for life after separate car crashes involving pedestrians on NSW roads.
A nine-year-old girl died in hospital on Monday after a car struck her east of Lismore about 9.30am, NSW Police said.
The driver, a 54-year-old man, was treated for shock after the crash at McLeans Ridges in northern NSW.
Elsewhere, a four-year-old girl and her mother, father and aunt were seriously injured when an allegedly drunk and texting driver ploughed into the group of tourists in Sydney's northwest on Sunday night.
The young girl suffered head and internal injuries in the Kellyville crash while her aunt, 55, has spinal and internal injuries.
The parents, 44 and 45, are both in a stable condition with broken bones.
Police said the family from Hong Kong had been on holiday and were walking on the footpath of Hezlett Road when they were hit by the car about 9.30pm.
The 50-year-old woman who was driving recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.11 and had been texting at the time of the accident, police say.
"It's a dangerous combination," Inspector Katie Orr told reporters on Monday.
"No one should get behind the wheel with any alcohol to that extent. But on top of that to be using your mobile phone is extremely dangerous."
The driver was bailed on seven charges and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on October 10.
