A teenage girl is in hospital after she was hit by a car in Sydney's northwest.

Police say the girl was struck by an Audi driven by a 56-year-old woman as she crossed Shepherds Drive at Cherrybrook before 6pm on Friday.

The driver returned a negative breath test and the girl is in a stable condition, police say.
