Give us $6b, Victoria tells fed government

Victoria wants close to $6 billion to build major road and rail infrastructure projects.

The federal government is being asked to chip in about $6 billion to help Victorians get around.

Premier Daniel Andrews says the Melbourne Metro Rail tunnel, the Western Distributor toll road, and a significant upgrade to the Monash freeway will all need federal funding.

Mr Andrews told reporters on Thursday he thought about five or six billion dollars from the federal government for Victorian infrastructure would be "our fair share."
