The first time Tim Glasby entered a Queensland camp, he was greeted with the headlines "Tim Who?".
But the unheralded Maroons bench forward aims to make a name for himself in Wednesday's State of Origin III as Queensland plans for the future.
The Melbourne forward had not quite made his presence felt in the NRL when he got a surprise Maroons interchange call-up with the 2017 series on the line in game two.
Glasby admitted the coverage of his shock Origin call-up last year - particularly that headline - had taken its toll on his family.
"It didn't worry me too much but it did affect my family," he said.
"They weren't really happy about it.
"They were more worried with how I felt and once they knew I was OK, they were OK."
While Glasby admitted his name still did not stand out in a star-studded Queensland side, the 29-year-old conceded he would have to make his third Origin count with jerseys on the line.
Queensland will have one eye on the future in game three after NSW won their second series in 13 years.
The Blues are now vying for their first series whitewash since 2000.
"Definitely (jerseys are on line). You want to be performing at this level to put yourself in a good position for the next game, which will be next year," Glasby said.
"(But) I am comfortable with what I bring to a footy team and I am aware of what I bring.
"My stats aren't the best going around but I know I bring a lot of other stuff that other players might not bring.
"I actually wear that very proudly."
Glasby played the last two games of 2017 series with Queensland winning both to secure their 11th series win in 12 years.
Glasby will hope to again be a lucky charm in Origin III after being made to sweat on his third appearance for Queensland.
He was in the squad for the first two games and even looked set to play Origin II while on standby for Dylan Napa (ankle).
"I wouldn't call it frustrating. It was disappointing to miss out the first game and then the second game," Glasby said.
"I wasn't sure what was going to happen with Dylan but once he was good to go I stepped back to that 18th man role - that's part of footy.
"I'm fortunate to get another crack."
