Brisbane second-rower Alex Glenn will miss New Zealand's Four Nations rugby league campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery on Wednesday.

Glenn had an operation to stabilise his AC joint, after carrying an injury through the back-end of the 2016 season.

After the predicted four-month recuperation period, he is expected to be fit for the beginning of the 2017 season for the Broncos.

"It is a three-to-four month recovery for an operation of this sort," Broncos high performance manager Jeremy Hickmans said.

"That means he would be available in the first few weeks of the trials, so he shouldn't miss any time from games there."

Glenn has played 12 games for the Kiwis since making his international debut in 2011.
