A small glider joey is recovering well after an injury rendered its mother unable to feed.
The 10-week-old glider was rescued with its mother on the Central Coast of New South Wales earlier this month, after the older glider became entangled in a barbed-wire fence with the joey in her pouch.
The mother’s injuries caused her to stop producing milk, meaning the joey had to be looked after by staff at the Taronga Zoo.
Vet nurse Felicity Evans has since been feeding the joey six times a day.

"She gets really excited about food and can be quite a messy eater," Ms Evans said. "She’ll grab hold of the spoon and pull it down so she ends up with milk all over her paws and stomach.
"I have to carefully clean her fur afterwards and wipe off her little milk moustache."
