Global plaudits for taxi driver portraits

A chance meeting in a cab has spawned an Adelaide art project that's getting global plaudits for its stand against racism.

Dan Connell's huge portraits of Sikh taxi drivers have proved so successful, he's receiving invitations to show his works around the world.


The concept is simple, Connell explained; "How a portrait can gently be a quiet invitation to reflect and contemplate on the people who we live with."

The works have received rave reviews in India and San Francisco, and he's been invited to exhibit in New York next year.
