Glory face test of character: Lowe

Everyone at Perth Glory must decide whether to step up or step out, according to coach Kenny Lowe.

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe says the club faces an character-defining period akin to their salary cap scandal after a 5-1 belting by Melbourne City.

The four-goal hiding is the club's worst defeat in more than five years and comes on top of an already lean A-League stretch.

Glory have now lost three of their last four matches, with Sidnei's header their only consolation on a chastening night at AAMI Park

It's a sorry record that has last year's high-flyers second-bottom of the league.

According to Lowe, the coming weeks will make or break individuals.

"We've got to dig in," he said.

"Like the salary cap, it's a defining moment.

"This is an opportunity for people to either step up or step out, including myself.

"I'm going to find out a lot about myself in the next few weeks and also the players are going to find out."

After leading the A-League for much of last season, Glory lost their chance to play for the championship after being found to have breach salary cap rules.

That stint at the top of the ladder seems a lifetime ago.

Perth's injury list includes Dino Djulbic, Ruben Zadkovich, Josh Risdon and star man Guyon Fernandez.

Glory's depth will be tested even further next week with young centre-back Aryn Williams suspended after his send-off.

Lowe said their poor results hadn't dampened team morale.

"You saw in the game, we were down but we were still creating chances. They still had a go."

"The attitude's good, I can't fault the attitude.

"We'll just see where we go from here."
