Participants in a new series of “Go Back To Where You Came From” came under fire by IS insurgents whilst filming in Syria, where they were taken by producers to witness what the UN has described as the worst refugee crisis in 25 years.
Three participants - an anti-refugee campaigner called Kim Vuga, a teacher called Andrew Jackson and a Manus Island whistle-blower named only as 'Nicole', are escorted under security to the Syrian frontlines by Kurdish soldiers as they defend a village under threat by IS.

In the three-part documentary, which is due to air later this month on SBS, six ordinary Australians experience the journey of refugees trying to reach Australia by boat.Participants are transferred from a people smuggler’s boat to an orange lifeboat and turned back to Indonesia. They also visit Iraq, Syria and Jordan.
“Go Back To Where You Came From” Season Three premieres on Tuesday July 28 on SBS.
