Gold Coast health authorities are urging southeast Queenslanders to watch out for measles-like symptoms after two members of the same family were diagnosed with the disease.
The pair, whose ages are unknown, were infectious when they flew into Brisbane International Airport from Bali at 9am on February 27.
They also visited the blood collection centre and chemist at the Gold Coast University Hospital between 11am and 1pm on March 7.
The family members take the number of Queenslanders to be diagnosed with measles in the past week to three.
On March 9, the Metro North Public Health Unit confirmed a man in his 40s had been unknowingly infected when he visited the Brisbane International Airport and the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital earlier this month.
Gold Coast public health unit staff specialist Anu Anuradha urged anyone with measles-like symptoms who had visited the airport or GCUH, to see their doctor.
""It is very important to call your medical practice first if you need to seek treatment, so that staff can take precautions to avoid spreading it to others," she said in a statement on Tuesday.
Dr Anuradha said symptoms usually started about 10 days after contact with an infected person, but could take up to 18 days.
They can include fever, tiredness, a runny nose, coughing, sore eyes and a red blotchy rash.
Dr Anuradha said the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine was the only way to prevent infection of the disease.
""Measles can be a severe disease in the very young. Complications range from ear infection and diarrhoea, through to pneumonia and swelling of the brain (encephalitis)," she said.
