For Australia's Lydia Lassila, the desire to hang up the skis is yet to hit.
The four-time Winter Olympian won aerial skiing gold at the 2010 Games in Vancouver before backing up with bronze at Sochi four years later.
She has set her sights on winning a third medal at PyeongChang in 2018.
"I was hoping that retirement feeling would come," said the 34-year-old Lassila.
"But it kind of never did.
"I even thought 'oh my God, when is this feeling going to come?' But it was also exciting that I had the drive to keep going."
Lassilla, who became first female to nail the quad twisting triple in Sochi, will be 36 when PyeongChang rolls around.
The mother-of-two knows she is nearing the end of her career, but that hasn't stopped her joining the Australian aerial ski team for training in Finland as she attempts to qualify for her fifth Games.
"I can be competitive for another round, opt for more consistency and be more strategic," she said.
"I know I'm on the tail end of my athletic career and with a second son, life is full and busy."
"I'm realistic and have different expectations this time. I'd regret it if I didn't try again."
