At the beginning of last week, Marcus Fraser's confidence was so shot that he convinced himself he wouldn't make the cut at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia.
So two days before the tournament even began, Fraser jumped on a computer to see which flight he could take home on Friday night.
Those plans were shelved when Fraser made the cut.
And by Sunday afternoon, the 37-year-old was left as stunned as anybody after securing his third European Tour title.
Now, he's got his sights set on cracking into the world's top 50 and securing a place at.the US Masters.
Fraser is in Western Australia ahead of the $US1.75 million ($A2.42 million) Perth International at Lake Karrinyup, starting on Thursday.
And unlike last week, the World No.62 is brimming with confidence - a far cry from his recent form slump in the Middle East when he missed two of three cuts.
"After the Middle East, I was pretty lost with where my game was at," Fraser said on Tuesday.
"I went and looked at those flights (before the tournament in Malaysia) because I thought I had no chance of being there on the weekend.
"But then I did some more practise on Wednesday and could see some signs it was starting to progress in the right way.
"On the Thursday, I came out and played great. I surprised myself it turned around really quickly.
"Now I feel really good about my game."
Fraser revealed his recent problems had to do with his alignment, saying it had even started to cause him some aches and pains.
With his swing now sorted, Fraser is desperate to crack into the world's top 50 so he can secure a spot at the US Masters.
"A few years ago I got to 51 in the world, but never got inside the top 50," Fraser said.
"I've never played in the Masters. It's something as golfers we all dream of doing.
"It's right in front of me now. I've got no one else to blame if it doesn't happen."
Fraser faces a battle on several fronts in his bid to win the Perth International.
World No.21 Louis Oosthuizen and Frenchman Victor Dubuisson are the early favourites, while Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen is back to defend his title.
Fraser has struggled in the week after winning his previous two European Tour titles.
And he thinks he knows why.
"I probably got hammered - that's why," Fraser joked.
