Su Oh arrived in Australia at the age of eight, and just 12 years later she has already represented her adopted country at the Rio Olympics and is now eyeing a maiden professional title.
It all began when her Korean parents had an argument about how much golf her father was playing.
The compromise was Su Oh spending weekend after weekend on the golf course with her Dad.
And the more she played, the bigger her rewards.
"The better I scored, the bigger the ice cream was," she said.
Her love of ice cream and golf grew hand-in-hand, to the point where last year she finished 50th on the money winners list of the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA).
Despite her consistency on the tour, Ms Su told SBS News the only way to win her first title as a pro is to keep a balance between her sport and life off the course.
"I listen to a lot of music, shopping and I like to hang out with my friends."
Like many 20-year-olds, finding the proper work-life balance remains a work in progress. But if she decides playing golf is too much like hard work, her dream job would be as a secret service agent.
"I don't know what an Australian one is called, like the CIA or FBI, like a field agent."
