Two men who rescued a man being attacked in southeast Queensland then turned on the victim.

The pair stepped in and helped the 32-year-old while he was being assaulted by a man about 12.30am (AEST) on Saturday in Toowoomba west of Brisbane.

When the man walked off with his rescuers towards a nearby park they bashed and robbed him before taking off, Queensland Police say.

The man was treated in hospital for cuts to his face, while his rescuers-turned-attackers were arrested and will face court on Monday.
