Victorians can now plan their public transport trips on Google Maps.

The state government has agreed to hand over the extra timetable data Google required to make the Google Transit service work in Victoria.

"It's a great improvement to an app many of us use every day, that will make it easier to get where you need to go on our trains, trams and buses," Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said on Wednesday.
