A grandmother has chained herself to a tractor as a blockade at a coal seam gas (CSG) drilling site enters its fourth day.
Up to 40 people are demonstrating at Fullerton Cove, north of Newcastle, against Dart Energy's approval to drill four CSG pilot wells.
Third-generation resident Julie Wood, a grandmother, and Lisa McDonald have chained themselves to a tractor.
Fullerton Cove Residents Action Group spokesman Lindsay Clout says the protesters are proud to have stopped work on the Hunter Valley site since Monday.
"If Dart had the courage to show their face at the blockade site they would better realise the strength and depth of community opposition to their coal seam gas drilling plans," he said in a statement.

"We'd be very happy to provide them with a long list of the local residents who are against it."
NSW Energy Minister Chris Hartcher on Wednesday urged the protesters to stop blockading the site, pointing out Dart Energy had received state and federal consent to proceed with exploratory drilling.
